Introducing Dere’s Parmesan crusted fish.

The only thing you need for this D E L I C O U S recipe is :

•Your favorite uncooked fish  (I used tilapia)

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

•(2 table spoons) Black pepper

•(2 table spoons )Lemon pepper season

•(3 table spoons) Soul food seasoning

•(4 table spoons) Parmesan cheese grated

•(1/2 cup) Bread crumbs

• (2 table spoons) garlic seasoning

Processed with VSCO with p5 preset

Processed with VSCO with m3 preset

Baking Sheet, A bowl,  Aluminum Foil & Olive oil to coat the foil.

** optional, a few leaves of cilantro to garnish the fish**

Now that you’ve gotten all of your ingredients together, you should turn your oven to 350 degrees!

Next, put the aluminum foil on your baking sheet evenly. Once this is done now you can lightly coat your pan with olive oil.

combine the seasoning and bread crumbs in the same bowl

*optional * use a little bit of olive oil to coat your fish

Instead of using olive oil I used water.

Once all of the fish are wet, dip them in the bowl. Make sure the fish is covered ALL over with the mix . ALSO, I recommend stabbing a few holes in the fish with a knife to make sure it cooks thoroughly.Processed with VSCO with m3 preset

Gently place the the fish on the pan & if you want, you can garnish the fish with cilantro.. then place into the oven.

Let the fish cook for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown! Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

VOILA! Your fish is ready to serve!!

This fish is so mouthwatering and filling. It’s great on a salad, served as a main dish and can even be made into a sandwich! I hope you enjoy–I know I surely did!

Fruit bowls have become my go-to snack lately(I’ve even mentioned it in a few other post of mine). When I’m craving something sweet, I add some of my favorite fruits, nuts and yogurt and create a little piece of heaven. The best part about fruit bowls is there’s literally no wrong way to make them. I’ve used everything in my fruit bowls. From pretzels, to pieces of chocolate, and graham crackers. The list goes on and on and I absolutely love it!

Feel free to to like and share some simple things that make your life easier in the comment section. These things doesn’t necessarily have to be food, it can be whatever makes you happy:)

Chicken Alfredo pull apart

You read that right I’m a cheater…A diet cheater that is! For anyone on a lifestyle journey of trying to stay fit and eat healthy well you probably want to stand clear of this dish! IT WILL MAKE YOU CHEAT! There was no way I could turn down this delicious cheat meal . So with out further ado …

Here’s what you will need :

  • Loaf of French bread
  • tomatoes (use a half of a tomato then diced)
  • cooked, diced chicken
  • alfredo sauce
  • cheese : I used a mix of swiss and provolone (1 cup of each, mix together)
  • Cooked bacon (6 pieces chopped)
  • Personal seasoning mix : I used Italian seasoning, rosemary, red pepper , salt and black pepper
  • olive oil
  • spinach
  • knife & a baking sheet

So first, preheat the oven to 375. Place bread on baking sheet.

Next you want to cut the loaf of bread in half (MAKE SURE YOU CUT  LESS OF THE BOTTOM) majority of the bread should be at the bottom. Once you finish that,  dig out the soft part of the bread like 👇🏾(Below) it should look like a boat or a loonnnng boat.

next you want to cover the bottom with Alfredo sauce. Use half of your sauce. (PSA you will not be using the top half of bread, in this recipe)IMG_8225

add the seasoning…

then use 1 cup of the cheese mix. Spread evenly. IMG_8224

Add the chicken IMG_8211

bacon time!! 😋 IMG_8217

Spread on the diced tomatoes..IMG_8226

then spinach. IMG_8214

cover top with more Alfredo sauce (NOT too much) IMG_8222

add the remainder of the cheese

drizzle top with olive oil IMG_8218

put the masterpiece in the oven for about 10-15 ( depending on the crunchiness you want )

take out cut in sections & …..  IMG_8069

My 3 Favorite things: Food, Fuckboys and more Fashion

It is now my second week here in Florence, Italy and I have found just a few more reasons to fall in love with Italy. The first is the ..

FoodEvery corner you turn around there are pizza shops and gelato shops that it makes it impossible to make a decision on what places to eat. So like the awesome person I am, I’ve made it a little easier for you in case you find yourself wanting to fall in love with Italy like I have!

Pictured Left to right:

Black Bar: Looking for some tastey tiramisu gelato or some healthy but mouthwatering pizza ? Check this place out! Located near the town square, always crowded but definitely worth the hassle.

Zaza: (MY ULTIMATE FAV)So this place has a very fancy vibe going on, but don’t worry you don’t have to dress to impress to visit this place. The steaks are huge and they even have truffles pasta at a reasonable price. Now make sure you make some room for the cheesecake because it is to die for!! (Bonus the staff is really attractive as well)

Lampredotto Food Stands: You can find at least 5 of these Food stands spreaded throughout the city. Now if you are a fan of having food change your life, YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS! You have the option of having your delicious lampredotto soaked in a steamy broth with basic green sauce or having it spiced up with some chili sauce. They are made fresh to order and absolutely addicting.

Tea Room: This cute bar was discovered while I was getting lost in the city. There are 3 major sections in this cafe. First there is the main floor that is made for bigger meals, next there is the bar area where couples tend to linger at then there is an outside patio where you get a perfect view of the city streets.

The Diner: The Diner is like Cracker Barrel  with an Italian twist. So they take traditional breakfast favorites and recreate them the Italian way. The theme of the restaurant is an old fashion American diner with spacious seating and lively music ( heads up the staff kind of sucks).

Fuckboys: The Italian boys are literally beautiful here. Strong accents , full beards and plus they are Italian! But apparently no matter what country you are in, there’s no escaping  them! (Fuckboys , that is) They try flirting with you and turn around and do it with another girl RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE?!??? Then they turn around with their beautiful accents and win you back over.. let’s say it together F U C K B O Y S. Another thing I noticed with these fuckboys is that they are really not gentlemen like. I have had atleast 10 guys damn near push me off of the side walks when I’m walking and the other 12 try and speak another language when sexually undressing you with their eyes. Let’s say it one more time F U C K  B O Y!

Fashion: During my second week here, I was blessed with the amazing  opportunity to sit down with the fashionable creative director of the biggest advertising agency/public relations firm in Italy.   During this interview I was able to gain insight on what it means to be innovative and too see how passion and work can lead to making your dreams come true! I was able to get a walking tour of Aria Advertising as well as some secret locations .  Having the interview inspired me to change up my style and try new things, seeing how color and and bold prints being put together in a sandwich makes me want to recreate the looks I was not  able to see  before( a mini look-book will be coming soon)

-Also , wanting to get inspired like I did? The new issue of Blending Magazine will hit stands in May so be on the lookout to peep my exclusive interview !

With week 2 ending I cannot wait to see what the 3rd week has in store for me to share with you!  Until next time CIA ,PREGO !!

(wanting to see Italy for yourself? Keep up with me on snapchat derehneyxoxo where I share with you my daily adventures)

Just made week one my ..

So I have officially finished the first week of my journey, Bring out the champagne!!

Now I will be honest , I definitely caught myself making a few slip ups here and there. Eating the chocolate covered pretzels instead of the regular kind. But regardless, I am still super proud! Throughout this first week I learned and researched some awesome remedies all skin types can add to their facial routines such as honey and pure olive oil being good for ALL skin types , as well as some new recipes I found that helped me save money and still be conscious of what I’m eating.   If you or anyone you know has some yummy yet healthy recipes feel free to share! Here’s a recipe I created during this first week of my journey. My co-workers raved about it and I don’t mean to toot my own horn but ..*toot toot. I call this pasta recipe…

The Cheesey Way Out:

bag of frozen spinach ( you’re only going to need a cup)

full bottle of Parmesan cheese(3 cups)

mozzarella cheese (1 cup)

soy milk (2 cups)

pasta (desired amount varies)

(any seasoning you want : I refrained from salt and just used Italian seasoning and oregano and garlic)

start by boiling the pasta…

while the pasta is boiling grab 2 skillets. One for the spinach the second for the cheese.

in one skillet dump the spinach in it on medium.

Add the milk and parmesan cheese ingredients in another skillet on medium. (Just keep stirring)

once the cheese sauce is liquified and the spinach is cooked, add the spinach to the sauce and add your seasoning as you constantly stir.

reduce the heat once the mixture is combined properly , then add the mozzarella cheese! Turn skillet to a low temperature .

it doesn’t take your pasta too long to cook , once  your noodles are soft , drain the water .

Put the cooked pasta on a plate add your sauce and VOLIA! (Side note I added chicken to mine, it’s a preference, pasta is still delicious with or without)
